The History of the Dinker Bears

Several hundred years ago, a black bear gave birth to three cubs; one male & two female. One of the female cubs was very small, and thinking it wouldn't survive, the mother bear rejected her and left her to die.

At that time, a wise man lived in the mountains and used to rescue orphaned and sick animals. When he came across the tiny cub, he took her home and cared for her. She flourished and was very healthy, although she remained very small.

The wise man always talked to his animals and they all lived together as one family, and as the little bear grew up, other strange creatures joined them, including a very small brown, male bear.

The cubs immediately became good friends and played happily together. In time, they had cubs of their own, which were even smaller but had remarkable abilities. They started to imitate the wise man's speech and would talk back to him, which made him very happy. He would laugh with them and called them his little Dinky treasures.

Alas, one day, the wise man died leaving a large number of unusual creatures to fend for themselves. They spread out across the mountains and survived well. Some however, died out and are only heard of in legends, but the tiny bears, calling themselves 'His Dinkers', soon became too numerous for the mountains alone, and they spread out into the rest of the world.

Now Dinker bears are found in most countries; they are rarely seen, but they have occasionally been heard, as they choose to live near humans!

The wise man's spirit roamed the mountains until one day he came across a beautiful, lone bear. He spoke with the bear and the bear allowed the wise man's spirit to rest in him, becoming the first 'Wise One' for the Dinkers. His name became Papa Sabio Osos...meaning father wise bear.

As each new 'Wise One' is born, Sabio imparts some more of his wisdom upon them; those lucky enough to own any Dinker Bear will have a friend for life, but those who have a special 'Wise One', have a rare treasure indeed.
